Morgan Szymanski Guitar Recital

Friday 5th July 2019

We are delighted to welcome the internationally renowned classical guitarist Morgan Szymanski to Ripley this July for a special summer evening concert in St Mary Magdalen church.

Morgan has established himself as one of the finest performers of his generation. He can regularly be heard at major UK venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and Queen Elizabeth Hall and has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.  His devotion to chamber music has led to collaborations with artists such as John Williams and the Cremona Quartet, and many composers have dedicated works to Morgan some of which will be performed this evening.

Morgan Szymanski has recently acquired a beautiful new instrument made by the renowned guitar maker Luciano Lovadina. It has been called the “Gemignana” in honour of its inaugural performance in San Gimignano, Tuscany in 2018, in a concert organised by Art History in Focus (based in Ripley, Surrey). The new instrument will enjoy its UK “premiere” at this specially arranged recital in Ripley on 5th July 2019 at 7.30pm.

We are organising this concert also to support the church of St Mary Magdalen, please see below for more details and please do bring cash donations for interval drinks and programmes (card payments cannot be accepted).

We would like to thank our generous sponsors Ripley Farmers' Market for supporting this concert.

Advance booking is now available - please click the link on the right to secure your tickets now.
