Cultural Travels from Home: The Kremlin, Moscow

Tuesday 1st June 11.00 AM

In our series of online webinars, we visit artists, art historians and guides in cultural cities around the world and enjoy an hour’s guided tour, museum visit or demonstration. The visits are live and interactive, allowing you to ask questions. These webinars will enable you to gain special access to sites, studios and galleries which are either currently closed or difficult to visit whilst at the same time providing a wonderful opportunity to travel virtually from home, no matter your location. Our visits will also support galleries and individuals working in the cultural sector whose activities have been affected by the pandemic.

Today, thanks to popular demand following our live tour of Red Square, we are delighted to invite you to explore the heart of the Russian capital - the legendary Kremlin fortress behind the walls. This will be the world's first live virtual tour of this kind here and will be led by one of the city's best guides

* please see important highlighted notes below before booking

The Kremlin is the origin of Russian statehood. It is the Russian Presidential Residence and within the castle territory we find a mixture of medieval history, unique architecture, Orthodox religion, Soviet heritage and Imperial treasures. We will walk among the legendary churches of  Cathedral Square exploring centuries-old frescoes and passing by the working residence of the President, the Grand Kremlin Palace, the Arsenal and much more!

Anna Belousova graduated from Moscow State University and Moscow City Government University specialising in international relations and tourism. She is a highly experienced tour guide, a speaker at the Department of Cultural Heritage of Moscow and a lecturer at the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism. She looks forward to sharing her city with you.The walking tour is interactive, so you will be able to put questions to our guide throughout the visit. Our events use the most up-to-date technology to provide you with the best possible virtual experience.

This is a live event including interactive Q and A starting at 11.00am GMT, lasting one hour. Tune in from anywhere in the world to participate or enjoy a recorded version if you cannot watch live. For those who are unable to participate live, you will automatically be sent a recording soon after the end of the session enabling you to watch on catch up later that evening or the following day. Please note, the recording is only available to those who have not been able to participate live, and it is not possible to purchase a recording after booking has closed.

General Booking lines will open on 21st April. Booking closes the day before the event is streamed. Please refer to the Further Information panel below.

* If a high-level meeting of top officials or a diplomatic reception takes place in the Kremlin, there is the slender possibility of us not being allowed access but if this happens you will of course receive a full refund. We have conducted technical tests within the territory and owing to security measures, livestream connection can sometimes be a little unstable in one or two areas. Because of these uncertain elements which are not usually a concern when planning a livestream tour, we have reduced the normal booking fee. Thank you for your understanding. Please also note that filming inside the museums within the Kremlin territory is not permitted.
