Friends' Event: The Baring Archive in London

Wednesday 15th June

A special private visit arranged for Friends of Art HIstory in Focus of the Baring Archive / ING Art Collection in London, in the company of its manager Clara Harrow.

After a wine reception we will enjoy a short introduction to the collection and its origins followed by a guided tour of some of its highlights, including a fine collection of historical portraits by leading artists such as Benjamin West, Sir Thomas Lawrence and Gilbert Stuart. We will also admire works by Stanley Spencer, LS Lowry, Patrick Heron and Paul Nash. During the tour you will also be able to view original documents relating to Barings, the merchant bank acquired by ING in 1995.

This private collection is not open to the public so will be a unique experience.

The visit is open to Friends only - click here for more details about our Friends programme.  Please note that this is an in-person (not an online) event.

Places are complimentary for Friends of Art History in Focus but are not bookable online. Friends should email us to reserve a space - please note that spaces for this event are strictly limited.
